Ronald F. Campbell, 87, of Belvidere, died Saturday, October 17, 2009 in his home following a year long illness. He was born on October 21, 1921 in Brodhead, Wisconsin, the son of Floyd and Josephine (Seaver) Campbell. He attended Capron area schools. Ron married Marjorie L. Nelson in Belvidere on June 16, 1946. He was a farmer for 20 years before working on the assembly line for Chrysler Corporation working there another 20 years retiring in 1987. Ron served his country as a private in the Army serving in WWII. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Boone Post 77, the United Auto Workers Union local 1268, the Boone County Farm Bureau. He was also a retired volunteer fireman for Boone County Fire District 2. He is survived by his wife of 63 & ½ years, Marjorie, of Belvidere; a son Bruce (Connie) Campbell, Rockford; a daughter, Jill (Dick) Countryman, Belvidere; three grandchildren, Nichole Campbell, Chicago, Kimberly (Dave) Mainwaring, Salem, Oregon and Jennifer (Chad) Haschel, Union Mills, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Samuel and Jackson Haschel; two sisters, Wanda Adamson, Belvidere; Audrey Reeve, Huntley, Illinois; a brother, Frank Campbell, of Loves Park, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Elna Lynd and two brothers Garth and Harold Campbell.
Memorials may be made to the family in his name where a memorial fund will be established.
