Roger J. Thornton, 65, of Belvidere, IL, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at William S. Middleton Veterans Memorial Hospital in Madison, WI. Roger was born April 3, 1949 in Belvidere, IL, son of Russell and Joyce (Roland) Thornton. Roger graduated from Belvidere High School, class of 1967. Roger served in the United States Navy. He married Kris Johnson on October 3, 1992 in Rockford, IL. Roger was a scout master when he lived in Florida. He enjoyed computer games, electronics and toys.

Roger is loved and will be missed by his wife, Kris; children, Rachelle (Tyrone) Martin, Kyle (Christine) Thornton; siblings, Robert (Nancy) Thornton, Ronald (Bonnie) Thornton; sister-in-law, Karen Garrett; grandchildren, Jonathan, Briana, Ariel, Jared, Sarai-Jean; numerous nieces and nephews. Roger is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; sister-in-law, Nancy A. Thornton.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL, 61008 with Rev. Dan Schenck officitating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Belvidere Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family.
