Roger Fleury, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2026, at the age of 83.
Roger was born on August 18, 1942, in Glidden, Wisconsin, to Rose Bay and Eugene Fleury. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent most of his working years as a skilled bricklayer, a profession that reflected his strong work ethic and dedication.
A faithful member of St. James Church in Belvidere, Roger found joy in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed bicycling, taking long walks, playing poker, and shooting pool. He was a true casino connoisseur and an embellished storyteller whose tales often brought laughter to those around him. Roger will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, funny, loving, loud, and outgoing, and for the countless memories he created with family and friends.
Roger is survived by his children, David, Paul, and Matt (Kelly); his brother Tim (Kate); his sister Dianne; his grandchildren, Victoria (Shannara), Carson, Emily, Zach (Hannah), Courtney, Brianna, Steve, and Ryan; as well as many great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Pamela; his brothers Marvin, Glenn, Donald, and Lyle; his sister Jackie; his daughter-in-law Kim; his stepdaughter Jennifer; and his granddaughter Laura.
A memorial visitation for Roger will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 4:30pm-6:30pm, at Anderson Funeral Home, 218 West Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, Illinois 61008,
A Catholic Mass celebrating Roger's life will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Church in Belvidere, with burial to follow at St. James Cemetery.
