Roger Lee Bruyn, 80, of Rockford, IL, passed away on January 9, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1944, in Belvidere, IL, to Charles and Caroline (Jordan) Bruyn. Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
For over 40 years, he worked as an electrician at the Belvidere Chrysler plant, where he was known for his reliability, skill, and commitment.
On August 5, 1981, Roger married Sylvia (Bald), the love of his life. Together, they shared 43 years of marriage and raised two daughters. They were blessed with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Roger treasured the time spent with his family, whether on vacations or simply sharing a meal together.
A lover of nature, Roger found joy in fishing, canoeing, hiking, and bird watching. His appreciation for the beauty of the natural world was a defining aspect of his life.
He will be deeply missed.His presence was a source of stability, comfort, and guidance to his family and friends. He was a man of integrity and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Bruyn; daughter, Amy Bruyn; grandchildren, Jonathan (Cheyenne) Baker, Sabrina Chan, and Stella and Lucy Moczydlowski; great-grandchildren, Karma and Keanu Baker; sister, Bonnie (Edward) Whitmer; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bruyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family whom he loved dearly.
He is welcomed into heaven by his daughter, Beth Baker; parents, Charles and Caroline Bruyn; and brother, Robert Bruyn.
Roger's visitation will be Saturday, January 18, 2025 between the hours of 10-11 at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service to follow at 11am with Burial at Belvidere Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Boone County Conservation District.
