Rodger A. Spielman, 72, of Rockford, IL died peacefully, Friday morning, December 26, 2014 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a short illness.  Rodger was born December 12, 1942 in Rockford, IL the son of Dale E. Spielman and Jeanne (Bryant) Lowdan.  Rodger had an entrepreneurial spirit; among his business activities he managed Octopus Car Wash on East State and owned and operated Excalibur Car Wash on Kishwaukee.  Rodger enjoyed walking on the bike path and was an avid photographer. He also enjoyed restoring old photographs with his computer.

Rodger is loved and will be missed by his children, Scott Spielman of Rockford and Tina (Michael) Calacci of Barrington, IL; grandchildren, Taylor, Alex, Luke and Adam; sisters, Barbara Joesten of Rockford, Vicki (George) Askvig of Machesney Park, IL; step-sister, Diane (Duane) Junke of Loves Park; step-brother, Jim (Mary) Hall of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews and the mother of his children,

Ginny Jackson of Rockford.  Rodger is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Gary; step-mother, Henrietta Spielman and Step-father, Edmund Lowdan.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W.
