Rodger Clark Johnson, 85 of Belvidere, IL passed away in his home on May 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family He was born in Ridgefield, IL on February 2, 1933 to Ralph and Amanda (Guke) Johnson. Rodger retired from Belvidere School District 100 were he was a maintenance man. Rodger proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the Belvidere VFW. Post 1461 and past member of the Moose Club in Belvidere
Rodger enjoyed fishing, working with wood, he was a true carpenter. He enjoyed making chocolate turtles and the meat raffles at the VFW. He enjoyed the time spent with his family.
Rodger is survived by his children, Shelia (David) Stewart, Scottie (Connie) Johnson, Sandra (Mark) Wahler and Stewart (Lynn) Johnson. He has 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also survived by his first wife, Nancy Johanningsmeier-Hollingsworth.
The family would also like to acknowledge good friends, close neighbor, his mechanic, special bartender and Kevin. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife Gloria; bothers Howard and Everett and sister Sharlet.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 11: AM to 2:00 PM at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W Hurlbut, Belvidere, IL.
Presentation of Military Honors will be conducted 3:00 pm in the Garden adjacent to Belvidere VFW Post 1461, 1310 W Lincoln Ave, Belvidere. A Celebration of Rodgers Life will follow.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
