Robin L. Smith, 53, a lifelong Belvidere resident died at 9:08 P.M. Tuesday, October 21, 2008, in his residence following a sudden illness. Born in Kingsport, TN, on March 15, 1955, Robin was the son of Robert L. and Joyce Elliott Smith. He was a machinist with Arnold's Engineering in Marengo for 30 years. Robin was an avid sports fan (NASCAR, White Sox, Bears & Titans, fishing, bowling, dart leagues) and particularly enjoyed video gaming with his son, Ryan.Survivors include his son Ryan L. Smith, Belvidere; his former wife Debbie of Plainfield; his father Robert L. Smith, Belvidere; sisters Diana Weber of New Berlin, WI, and Kim Hyson of Rockford; and brother Larry D. Smith of Belvidere. Robin was predeceased by his mother Joyce (June 14, 2000) and his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his memory in care of the family.
