Roberta M. Rollins, 87, of Belvidere, died Friday, April 2, 2010 in Maple Crest Nursing Home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 15, 1922 in Belvidere, Illinois, the daughter of Robert and Cora (Schwebke) Taylor. Roberta attended Belvidere High School. She married Willard Rollins in Dubuque, Iowa on April 22, 1938. Roberta worked as a machinist for Elco Tool in Rockford for many years. She later worked in housekeeping for the Illinois Tollway Authority for several years before retiring. In her spare time, Roberta enjoyed playing the organ, traveling with her husband Willard and spending time with her grandchildren. She and her husband lived in Florida for a short time. Roberta is survived by her daughter, Linda (Joe) Davis, Belvidere; two grandchildren, Michael Davis, Belvidere; and Jody (Jim Hoppenworth) Davis, Anchorage, AK; four great grandchildren, Andrew, Katie, Gary and Elsa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Ronald and two sisters. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Jennifer of Passages Hospice and the staff of Maple Crest Nursing Home, especially Eric for their compassionate care to Roberta.
