Belvidere, ILRobert Eugene Wylie, 74, of Belvidere, IL died peacefully, Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014 in Anam Care in Rockford, surrounded by his loving family, after a lengthy illness. Robert was born May 1, 1939 in Pineville, MO the son of Raymond and Eva Mae (Mahurin) Wylie. He married Gwendolyn Ekman in 1960 in Belvidere, IL. Robert retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 2001. He enjoyed Country-Western music, woodworking, collecting model cars, making equipment for Gwendolyn's Lace class. Robert is loved and will be missed by his wife, Gwendolyn of Belvidere; children, Jennifer (Thomas) Gummerus and Weslie Wylie both of Belvidere; grandchildren, Victoria Calabrese, Annika Gummerus and Nicholas Meive Wylie; sisters, Brenda Barnes and Pamela (Darwin) Frye both of Rockford; brothers, Ronald Wylie of Rockford, Roger (Debra) Wylie of Machesney Park, numerous nieces and nephews. Robert is preceded in death by sisters, Naomi (Kenneth) Stillions, Shirley (Grady) Farner and Connie Delaney; brother, Lonnie "LeRoy" Wylie.The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, caregivers and the entire staff of Anam Care and the Heartland Hospice for the exceptional loving care extended to Robert.

Memorials can be given in care of the Alzheimer's Association in Robert's name.
