Robert James Shearer, 87, of Belvidere, died Sunday, June 26, 2011. He was born August 27, 1923 in Marengo, Illinois to Leroy and Isabelle (McKee) Shearer. Bob was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as a staff sergeant in the European Theatre of Operations. He married Ardis "Kitty" Kenyon on October 28, 1950 in Sharon, Wisconsin. He was employed 34 years for Arnold Engineering Co., Marengo, Illinois and retired in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Bob was a member of Davis United Methodist Church, Herbert, Illinois. He loved trail riding on his horses and camping. Bob is survived by his son, Robert Shearer and daughter, Marilyn Scharlau, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two Step-granddaughters, Jodie Schirmer and Jackie Pufahl, three nieces and two nephews.
