Robert R. Salcido, 100, of Belvidere, IL passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 in Belvidere. He was born August 9, 1921 in Texas.He was a proud US Navy Veteran, who served from 1942-1945, during which time he received 5 battle stars and serviced USS Ashtabula. He worked for Oscar Mayer for many years and enjoyed working on boats, including Ed Claussen of Claussen's Pickles and the boat of Harold Meyer. He was a senior member of Chicago Power Squad where he taught classes on boat safety.He spent his free time on boats as a captain for numerous people.

Robert was the loving husband of the late, Nell (Gorell); adoring father of the late, Gail (Jim) Hegarty; beloved grandfather of Laura (Eric) McMahon and the late, Robert; fond brother of the late, Arturo, the late, Ray and the late, Armando.He will be missed by many especially his fur friends, Baxter and Spaz.

A visitation will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 10:00-11:45 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:00 Noon at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008.Father Geary will officiate the service.Burial will be Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridgewood Memorial Park, Des Plaines, IL.
