Robert C."Bob" Roenneburg, 85, of Cherry Valley, Ill. died Thursday, February 15, 2007 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center Emergency Department following a lingering illness. He was born November 10, 1921 in Juda, Wisconsin, the son of Jesse E. and Lillian (Atkinson) Roenneburg. Bob attended Juda area schools. He has lived there since 1956 moving there from Belvidere. Bob married Jeanette Schmeling in Belvidere on November 26, 1950. He was a Professional Driver for Milwaukee Dispatch Co. and later for Blackhawk Transport Co. retiring in 1980.Bob was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army's European Theatre under General Patton's command. He was a member of the Teamsters Union; the American Legion and was lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the Moose Club. He received the Moose Club's highest honor the Pilgrim Degree in May of 2006. He also was Past President of the Moose Club. He also served the Cherry Valley community as a fireman and Chief of Police for 18 years. Bob is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of Cherry Valley; a sister, Jean (Joe) Butitta, Prescott, AZ; a Brother-in-law, LeRoy Schmeling and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Phyllis Thaute.
