Robert Ivan Purvis, 71, of Belvidere, IL, passed away October 15, 2023. He was born on January 29, 1952 in Mauston, WI. The son of William and Shirley Purvis. Bob was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He could always make his family smile, and had a contagious sense of humor. On September 10, 1972, he married the love of his life, Mary. Together they shared 2 children and 51 years in marriage. Bob worked for many years in transportation. He worked for 10 years driving limousines, and 25 years driving a school bus in the Rockford area. Bob was a member of the Capron Rescue Squad. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Jaycee's club, and a member of the Oktoberfest committee. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, he loved music, fairs and festivals. He loved and adored his cats, Schmooz, Missy, and Moon. He was devoted to his family and the community. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Purvis; their children, Jennifer (Mike) Clohesy, Bob (Kelli) Purvis; grandchildren, Matthew McKinley, Madison McKinley, Devin Clohesy, Bree Purvis, Tyler Davis and Jacob Davis; siblings, Bill (Dana) Purvis, Dale (Lorna) Purvis; aunt, Delores Grover; mother-in-law, Anna Dale; siblings-in-law, Kathy Long, Rita Streit, Jim Dale, Patricia Marshall, Susan Golding, and Bill Dale; and very special friends, Karen and Bill Razim and Al Whale. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family whom he loved dearly. He is predeceased by his parents, William and Shirley Purvis; sister, Patricia Houpt; father-in-law, Bill Dale; brothers-in-law, Rick Dale, Dale Long, and Larry Houpt. The family would like to extend their endless gratitude to all the medical staff, especially the paramedics who serve Boone County for their care.

Bob's memorial visitation will be, Tuesday, October 24, between the hours of 9am and 11am at Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. Memorial service to follow at 11am.
