Robert W. Olson, 73, of Roscoe, died Friday, June 29, 2012 in his home following a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Born May 2, 1939 in Rockford, Illinois; the son of Gordon and Helen (Heatherington) Olson. Bob married Jean Glawe in Rockford on April 6, 1961. He worked as a wood pattern maker for over 35 years in the Rockford area. He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1962. Bob was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as fishing, birdwatching, classic cars, playing the harmonica, woodworking and wine making. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Roscoe; daughter, Linda (Kelly) Geishert, Belvidere; son, Edward (Christine) Olson, New Lenox, Illinois; four grandchildren, Ethan and Lauren Geishert; and Jason and Ryan Olson; sister, Jane (Jack) Brooks, Gilbert Arizona; brother, Mark (Roseann) Olson, Munds Park, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Richard Olson. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the OSF Cancer Center and OSF Hospice.
