Robert Eldon Newport, 94, of Belvidere, IL passed away August 13, 2018. He was born June 6, 1924 in Morris, IL to Harvey and Ruby (Aker) Newport. He attended O'Malley Grade School and graduated from Mazon High School in 1942.

His family moved to the Belvidere area in 1946. He married Mary Ralston of Caledonia on October 21, 1950 in the Old Stone Church in Rockton.

He was employed by NIB Co-Op before engaging in dairy farming in 1957.

He was a member of Pure Milk Assoc. and AMPI, a milk marketing assoc. He was a long-time member of Boone County Farm Bureau, serving as president for 2 terms. He was also a member of the Belvidere Kiwanis and Boone County Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Claudia of Springfield, OH; son, Mark (Jan) of Sandwich, IL; grandchildren, Christina Newport of Oconomowoc, WI, Erika Shelton of Denver Co., Ethan (Colleen) Shelton of Arlington VA; great-grandsons, Caden, Max, Jase, Andrew; great-granddaughter Emmie; brothers Max and William of Rockford, IL and sister Marion Biagi of Oak Park, IL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded by daughter, Laura Beth, Parents; brothers James, Addison, John (Jack) and sister, Joan Whitehead.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, August 20, 2018 at Livingston Cemetery, located on North Boone School Road west of IL Route 76 in Caledonia, IL.
