Robert G. Magnuson, Jr., 79, of Garden Prairie, died Friday, April 6, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. Born December 9, 1932 in Rockford, son of Robert G. and Mildred (Lingenfelter) Magnuson, Sr. Served in the US Army. Married Diane Young on July 18, 1954 in Rockford in Diane's grandmother's home. Worked as a machinist and NDT inspector for Hamilton-Sundstrand, retiring in 1994. Was a member of the Capron Lutheran Church, Bellstone Fishing Club, the Optimist Club, and was a Cub Scout leader. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, enjoyed bowling and loved to watch all his grandchildren at their sporting events. Bob raised pigs and was a staple at the Boone County Fair for many years. Survivors include his life-long love, wife Diane, daughter Sharon (Michael) Charlesworth of Garden Prairie, sons Robert (Joy) Magnuson, III of San Antonio, TX, David Magnuson of Rockford, Jeffrey (Elaine) Magnuson of Claremore, OK, Stuart (Kim) Magnuson of Poplar Grove, grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Cynthia, Robert IV, David Jr., Gabriel, Erica, Tina, Stephanie, Samantha, Stetson, Crystal, Amber, Jeffrey II, 12 great-grandchildren, sister Bonnie (Eugene) Hendricks, many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and sisters Muriel, Rebecca, and Victoria.
