Robert M. Swanson, 93, of Belvidere, passed away, Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Northwoods Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born December 5, 1923 in Belvidere, son of Rudolph and Minnie Swanson. He married the former Betty Steig on June 20, 1948 in Belvidere; she preceded him in death on March 4, 1997. Robert attended Belvidere High School and was a member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge, Men's Garden Club and Elk Lodge.  Bob made his spiritual home at St. John's United Church of Christ.

Robert is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Connie (Robert) Brandow of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Robert and Jody; great-grandchildren, Mateo, Alyssa, Elizabeth, Sophia; nieces, nephews and companion, Sue Lafferty and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Minnie Swanson; wife, Betty; daughter Jody and four sisters, Elvera, Gerda, Edna and Norma.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 28,2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL 61008. with Rev. Muriel Morley Jahn officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m., prior to the service. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
