In Loving Memory of Robert L. Fay Sr.
Robert "Bob" L. Fay Sr., age 82, of Belvidere, IL passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Bob's departure marks the end of an era, leaving a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Son to Jeanette and Harold Fay, Bob was born November 30, 1940, in Northern Illinois. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Aggie Fay, who stood by his side through all of life's joys and challenges. Their enduring love and commitment to each other were an inspiration to all who knew them.
He leaves behind a legacy of family and love through his son, Robert L. Fay Jr., and daughter, Amanda Jarling, who will forever cherish the memories of their father's guidance and unwavering support. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Gerald Terry; brother, Kenny Fay; and sisters, Lillian Fay, Linda Winkle, and Karen Mills. He is remembered fondly by his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Fay; and son-in-law, John Jarling; along with several nieces and nephews near and far, who will forever treasure his presence in their lives and the countless shared moments of laughter and companionship.
He will also be remembered as a loving grandfather to Katie Bautista, Alissa Fay, Johnathon Fay, Brook Fay, William Sphor; and as a doting great-grandfather to six precious great-grandchildren. His family brought immense joy and pride to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette Szczephowski and Harold Leroy Fay; four brothers; mother-in-law, Alice Terry; and his great-grandson, Charles Ebube Jr. Though they have gone before him, their memories will live on alongside his own.
Bob was an avid hunter, a passionate fisherman, a life-time member of the Harvard Moose Lodge, and a devoted Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors and shared many memorable hunting and fishing adventures with friends and family. Bob's legacy will be remembered, not only in the hearts of his family, but also in the countless lives he touched during his time on Earth. His warm smile, kind heart, contagious laugh, and enduring love will be cherished forever.
Visitation for Bob will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home in Belvidere, IL, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Bob Fay will be laid to rest at Big Foot Cemetery on US-14 in Harvard, IL.
