Robert J. Kilmer, 83, of Belvidere, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in Noarthwoods Care Center following a long illness. He was born in Mauston, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Doris Kilmer. He married Elaine Newkirk in Wisconsin in 1955. Robert was a Horse Trainer for Kilmer Stables before working 35 years at Delinsko Stables. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He was stationed in England. Robert was a member of the Methodist Faith, the Illinois Harness Association and the V.F.W. He is survived by his son, Benjamin Kilmer, of Poplar Grove, Illinois; and daughter, Wendy (Kurt) Shattuck, of Pauls Valley Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Bradley and Jered Kilmer and Matt Shattuck. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Jay.
