Robert Charles July died at UW Health hospital Rockford, with his wife by his side on November 30, 2025, after a brief illness. Born October 19,1942, in Rockford, IL to Charles Wilson & Helen Frances (Dunn) July. Graduated from East Rockford High School in 1960 and from Rockford College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics. Married Janice Page McCollum in Morris, IL March 21, 1964. Lived in Rockford until moving to Boone County in 1971.
Upon graduation from college, he joined J. I. Case-Rockford, IL where he remained until January 1967. Worked in the human resource/industrial relations field for Warner Electric Brake & Clutch (S. Beloit, IL). Upon Warner's acquisition by Dana Corporation he was named Director of Compliance & Government Affairs with responsibilities for 10 facilities. Retired after 40 years with a medical disability.
Served as Chairman of the Personnel Committee for the Beloit Hospital Board of Directors. Was Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Stateline United Way Campaign and was co-founder of Junior Achievement of the Rock River Valley program.
Had a life-long love of baseball, playing as a catcher from pony league throughout high school and college. Supported his daughters at horse shows and skating competitions. Enjoyed get-togethers with his East High classmates, rooting for the New York Yankees baseball team, salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, and all-you-can eat restaurants. Lifetime member of the LLL Society.
Survived by his wife, Janice; daughters, Robyn (Dane) Lewis of San Francisco area, CA and Krista (Matthew) Place of Seattle, WA; grandsons, Jack, Owen & Luke Lewis, Tyler & Joshua Place; and his brother, Donald (Joanne) July. Predeceased by his parents.
