IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
James Razim
May 2, 1949 – December 23, 2023
Robert "Bob" James Razim, 74, of Caledonia, IL, passed away on December 23, 2023. He was born on May 2, 1949 in Rockford, IL. The son of Helen (Horejs) and Leonard Razim. Bob was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
On August 14, 1971 he married the love of his life, Katherine "Kathy" (Simpson) and together they shared 2 children and 52 years of marriage. They renewed their vows and their devotion to one another on their 45th anniversary at Hunter United Methodist Church in Caledonia. They loved hosting birthdays and family gatherings at their home in his garage and playing family croquet games during the holidays.
Bob would often spend time bird watching and enjoying the beauty of nature. He spent many years raising sheep, showing them at the Boone County Fair, and bringing them to Edwards Apple Orchard. He enjoyed lawn care and gardening, as well as tinkering with various projects around the house. In his younger years, Bob loved to play volleyball, horse shoes, and was a bowling league member.
Bob graduated from Rock Valley College with an Associates Degree in Electronics and worked for many years as an electrician. He worked for Barber Coleman, Ballard Electric, and eventually retired from the IL Tollway in 2007. He was a member of the Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 364.
Above all, Bob enjoyed quality time with his family and adored his grandchildren. He shared his love for yard work with Jacob by picking up sticks (stickin'), followed with a treat from Burger King. He shared his love for conspiracy theories with Hannah, watching ancient aliens on TV. Bob had a sweet tooth and enjoyed popcorn, Snickers, and especially ice cream. He had a talent for telling jokes and stories that got everyone laughing and could start a conversation with anyone.
Bob will be remembered for his dedication to his wife, family, love of the outdoors, and strong faith. He will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine Razim; their children, Nicole (Randy Salzman) Beran and Michael Razim; grandchildren, Hannah Beran and Jacob Salzman; siblings, Leonard (Carole) Razim and William (Karen) Razim. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members whom he loved dearly.
He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Leonard Razim.
Bob's visitation will be Saturday, December 30, 2023 between the hours of 1-3pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral to follow at 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boone County Conservation District.
