Robert "Bob" James Nie Jr. 64, of Caledonia, IL, passed away on November 18, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on June 29, 1959 in Dixon, IL. The son of Jane (Hoenicke) and Robert James Nie Sr. Bob was a deeply devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He graduated from Sterling High School and went on to get his certificate as a tool and die maker. He worked for 25  years at Wauconda Tool in Algonquin. Bob was dedicated to the safety of his community and volunteered for the Belvidere Police Auxiliary for 25 years.

On July 27, 1985 in Clinton, IA, he married the love of his life, Laura (Wiebers). They shared two children and 38 years of marriage. They are longtime members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Bob enjoyed spending time outdoors; taking his family on beach vacations and going fishing. He looked forward to time with his family and planning the next adventure. Bob enjoyed nature, loved watching birds, and had many bird feeders close to home.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Nie; their children, Katherine (Benjamin) Holter and Elizabeth (Zachary Covey) Nie; grandchildren, Landon and Owen Holter; mother, Jane Nie; as well as his siblings, Shawn (Steve) Seelye, Leah (Gerry) Imhoff, and Bruce (Chris Van Rhein) Nie, and many nieces, nephews and extended family whom he loved dearly.

He is welcomed into heaven by his father, Robert James Nie Sr.

Bob's funeral service will be Tuesday, November 28th, at 12pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Camanche, IA on Wednesday, November 29th at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Myositis Association in memory of Bob.
