Robert H. Hicks, 85, of Belvidere, died Monday, April 25, 2005 in Northwood Care Center following a short illness. He was born November 12, 1919 in Boone County, Illinois, the son of Harry J. and Cora (Smith) Hicks. Robert married Mary Lois Fields in Belvidere on February 14, 1946. He was employed as a supervisor of maintenance by GTE in Genoa for thirteen years retiring in 1984. Veteran of WWII serving the Navy. Member of First Baptist Church; Life member and Past Commander of the American Legion Boone Post #77; Life member of V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Post #1461.He is survived by, Wife, "Lois"; two daughters, Kathi Spencer; Donna (Tom) Tangman; two sons, David (Julie) Hicks; Mick Hicks; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and another one expected on August 31, 2005; three sisters, Corabelle (Clifford) Jones; Helen Hanson; Laura (Vern) Pearson; a brother, Walter Hicks. He is preceded in death by parents; a sister; Gladys McCann and a brother, Ray Hicks.
