Robert B. Engelsen, 84, of Belvidere passed away Wednesday April 26, 2006 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 5, 1921 in Spring Township to Jack and Alice (Fossberg) Engelsen. He graduated from Belvidere High School class of 1941. On March 18, 1944 he married Lorraine Steinke in Belvidere. Bob worked as a mechanic at Poulter Implement Co. for 33 years until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ where he previously served as Church President, Elder, taught Sunday school, and was a member of the Cornerstones. He was a man of many talents who could fix anything. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed playing dominos, nutrition bingo, and many other activities at the Keen Age Center. He is survived by Lorraine, his wife of 62 years, daughters: Cheryl (Don) Van Abbema of Belvidere, Julie (Charles) Nelson of Phoenix, AZ., Judy (Michael) Weaver of Herrin, IL., Jayne Engelsen of Belvidere, son: Jack (Janet) Engelsen of Galva, IL., 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, sisters: Ann (Bert) Engstrom of Belvidere, Ruby (George) Flemming of Belvidere, brother: Everett (Charlene) Engelsen of Genoa, IL., several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, grandson Arik, 4 brothers: John, Glenn, Luther, Ray, and 1 sister: Beth.
