Obituary

Robert J. Duncan, 89, of Belvidere, Illinois, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning, June 1, 2016. He was born on May 30, 1927 to Helen and Walter Dziekonski in Rochester New York.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was stationed overseas. He was a Tin Can Sailor on board The USS Aulick DD569, The USS Leary DD879, The USS Powell DD839, The USS PC 486, The USS Sarsfield DD 837 and The USS Mackenzie DD 836. Robert was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and a gun enthusiast.
Robert is survived by his daughter, Sharon Duncan; grandchildren, Jennifer DiLiberto and Renee Collins; great grandchildren, Tyler, Josh and Tanner Dykstra and Daniel Collins; step great grandson, Dominik DiLiberto; twin brother, Richard Walter Duncan; sister, Joan Camardo; nieces and nephews, Paul Camardo, Valerie Camardo-Krupp, Amy Andersen, Diane Monday, Candis Pomykala, and Ronnie Dzienzonski; and cousin, Florian Czerniak.
He is predeceased by his parents; brother, Ronald Dziekonski; and nephew, Steven Dziekonski.
Memorial services will be held at 1 P.M., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 West Hurlbut, Belvidere, Illinois, 61008 with Deacon Jim Olson officiating. To light a candle or share a condolence, please visit www.andersonfcs.com.
