Capron, IllinoisRobert W. Cline, 78, of Capron, IL died Wednesday evening, December 31, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a lingering illness. Robert was born August 15, 1930 in Poplar Grove, IL the son of William and Mildred (Webster) Cline. He married Sharon Larson on November 19, 1960 in Roscoe, IL; she predeceased him on January 8, 1998. He then married Shirley Purvis on September 27, 1998 in Poplar Grove. He retired from Dean Foods where he drove for several distribution companies. Robert was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing the lakes of Wisconsin and Minnesota; playing softball and bowling. He was a crossword fanatic; Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed puttering in the yard, especially putting up Christmas lights. Robert was very handy and a talented electrician who could solve any electrical problem. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was stationed in Biloxi, MS. Robert was a member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge#295 and a faithful fire-fighter and trustee of North Boone Fire District #3 in Poplar Grove.Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Capron; children, Suzanne (Bill Butler) Shere of Belvidere, Michele (David) Schultz of Belvidere, Steven (Lisa) Cline of Divernon, IL, Sandra (Brett) Frederick of Pecatonica, IL; step-children, Patricia (Tom Mooney) Houpt of Capron, Dale (Lorna) Purvis of Capron, Bill (Dana) Purvis of Rockford, Robert (Mary) Purvis of Belvidere; grandchildren, Brittany and Brianna Shere, Keri and Kelsea Cline, Hayley, Hannah and Caleb Wilson, Alexis and Jared Frederick; step-grandchildren, Mark Purvis, Derek Houpt, Jennifer and Robert Purvis, Wesley, Jeremy, Brett and Lauren Purvis; great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Cayla, Allyssa, Matthew, Madison, Devin, Xavier, David, Nicholas.Robert is predeceased by his parents, first wife, Sharon, brother, Ernest "Bud" Cline; sister, Gertrude Daugherty; half-brother, Willard Olson ; granddaughter Tara Wilson.

A memorial will be established with the Capron Rescue Squad and Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in Robert's memory.
