Obituary

Robert William John Champion II was born in Logansport, Indiana January 17, 1942 to Robert William Champion Sr. and Francis Gerard Champion. He attended St. Joseph elementary school and Logansport High School, graduating in 1960.He graduated from Ball State University with a B.S. and M.S. in Economics and HIstory.He attended Indiana University Law School. He returned to join the Champion Insurance Agency.He was married to Vicki Lynn Walker at St. Joseph Church in Logansport on September 28th, 1968, forty five years ago.He was a loving father of twins, Myria Champion Tindle (Kenny Tindle) and Michele Champion and a son, Colin Champion.He was an adoring grandfather of Heather, Hailey and Holly Tindle, Hannah and Gabe Champion-Gunn, and Matthew Murray, Trinity and Mya Champion. He was predeceased by great grand daughter Daisy Jordan Tindle.He especially loved his brother Bill and sister and brother in law, Jeanie and Steve Jones, Dick and Beverly Zimmerman, and his father in law Robert Kummer. He had many loving nieces and nephews.He was also predeceased by his parents Robert and Francis Champion, step mother Roselyn Champion and mother in law Lavena Kummer.He also had a very special buddy, Max the cat.He always welcomes anyone and everyone into our home and lives.He was blessed with many" adopted" kids: Sherena,Mira,Jason,Mason,Cheryl,Jenny,Cindy, Dave Paul,Marsha,Pam,Brenda,George,Rick,Wendyi,Julie,Jim, Matt, Christina,Valerie,Charlene, Brian and Gretchen, many more family and friends we couldnt mention.Bob was the Head of Safety at Chysler in Belvidere Illinois for 24 years and retired from there in 2005. He was past president of United Way and a member on Boone County Board. He was an elder and very involved at First Presbyterian Church in Belvidere. He had a strong faith and love of life and served as an inspiration to many.He loved his church families and especially his "ladies".He was brilliant, funny and passionate for those he loved. He loved Sci fi, especially Star Trek and Star Wars. He loved history especially the Civil War. His favorite pastime was to tease everyone around him until his eyes twinkled with mischief. He loved his family and God more than anything and cherished both everyday. He was kind and generous to everyone he met and it showed. He touched so many lives. He alwasys sent nightly texts to say goodnight to his family. He did this even if he was sitting right next to one of us.He would stop and see his kids whenever he could find a reason or make one up.He is loved so much and we hold tight every moment we shared with him.May you always find blue skies above your head, shamrocks beneath your feet, laughter and joy aplenty, kindness from all you meet, good friends and kin to miss you. If ever you choose to roam and a path thats been cleared by angels themselves to carry you safely home.Irish BlessingsLove your Family.
