IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Bob"
Cunningham
October 16, 1960 – March 20, 2025
Robert "Bob" Cunningham, also known to many friends as "Rocky," 64, of Belvidere, IL, died peacefully March 20, 2025 in Rockford. He was born October 16, 1960 in Belvidere, IL, son to Charles and Romelle (Miller) Cunningham. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1979, attended Rock Valley College, and received a bachelor's degree in manufacturing technology from Bradley University. He married Amy Westmeyer on May 15, 2009 and they had fun attending concerts and sporting events together. Bob worked at Camcar in Belvidere as a manufacturing engineer, Textron in California, and then finished up his career as a line efficiency expert at the Belvidere Chrysler Plant. He was also UAW Recording Secretary and President for Salary Bargaining Unit 1761. Bob, the proud owner of an extensive collection of classic rock vinyl, was also known as "Styf Fingers" in his role of songwriter and singer for The Bitters, a band formed with close friends. Bob would often be seen in the stands at Wrigley Field in Chicago and at Ice Hog games in Rockford. As a player, he wore jerseys for Belvidere Youth Baseball, then Belvidere High School baseball and basketball teams. As a more "mature" adult, he continued to play softball. Bob was the lone Green Bay Packer backer in a family filled with Bears fans, a love inherited from grandfather Les Cunningham.
Robert is loved and dearly missed by his mother, Romelle Cunningham; sister, Kathy Cunningham; brother, James (Sarah) Cunningham; aunt, Dorothy Cunningham; nieces, Emma and Grace Cunningham; and multiple cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles; uncle, Jerry Cunningham; grandparents, Lester and Hazel Cunningham and Ernest and Clara Miller.
