Robert Blietz, 87, lifelong resident of Belvidere, died Thursday March 24, 2005 at O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born August 12, 1917 to William J. and Lena (Stading) Blietz in Belvidere. He attended Belvidere schools graduating from Belvidere High School in 1936. On November 22, 1941 he married Jeannette Boyce in Belvidere. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1976. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1946, stationed in California and Hawaii. He was a member of Immanual Lutheran Church in Belvidere. Robert was a member of the historical society, coached Belvidere Youth Baseball, and was a member of the VFW. He collected toy cars and tractors, enjoyed spending summers at the lake, canoeing, and had a love for all animals.He is survived by his wife Jeannette, sons; William (Janice) Blietz of Rockford, Robert Blietz of Belvidere, and 2 granddaughters; Jennifer Blietz of Rockford, and Jacquelyn (Thomas) Sanderson of Lake Villa, Illinois. He is predeceased by both parents.
