Robert J. Berendes, 72, of Belvidere passed away Monday August 15, 2005 at Park Strathmoor Nursing Home in Rockford. He was born December 5, 1932 the son of Albert and Louise (Gilles) Berendes. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Johann King on November 6, 1971 in Rockford. He was a former member of UAW through Chrysler, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards.He is survived by sons: Robert W. Berendes, Rory (Donna) Berendes of South Beloit, Daryl (Susan) Berendes of Belvidere, Darcy (Nancy) Berendes of South Dakota, George (Gwynn) Markley of Louisanna, daughters: Julie Berendes, Melody Oyan of Florida, Shawn (Kevin) Berendes of Black River Falls, WI, Jewel Dalton, numerous grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a sister: Alvina Connally. He is predeceased by his wife, parents, and a sister.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Diabetic Association, American Heart Association, or Keen Age Center.
