Rita Mae Smith, 78, formerly of Belvidere, IL and currently a resident of Florissant, MO, passed away November 26, 2018. She was born December 2, 1939 in Elk Mound, WI, the daughter of John and Agnes (Zimmer) Mousel. Rita attended high school in Rockford and Belvidere then married her sweetheart, Donald V. Smith, shortly after. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and other family, crafting, sewing, cross stich, having her name known around the local diner, and coloring in her older years.

Rita is loved and will be missed by her children, Dan (Lisa) Smith of Elkhorn, WI and Julie Vollmer of Florissant, MO; siblings, Laverne (Mildred) Mousel, Elaine (Sam) Sirovina, and Marilyn (Craig) Auman; grandchildren, Joshua (Jenn) Smith, Katelyn (Dan) Leach, Kyria (Adam) Branaugh, and James (Kelli) Vollmer; great-grandchildren, Lena and Reid Leach, Paige Smith, and Maeve Branaugh; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, Jacob "Jake" Vollmer; brothers, Gerald, Reynold, Jack, David, and Bernard Mousel; and sister, Donna Petrovich.

The funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories.
