Richard Winkelman, 83, of Belvidere, IL passed away July 16, 2021. Dick was born April 20, 1938 in Belvidere, IL the son of Ewald and Emma (Wendt) Winkelman. Dick was a graduate of Belvidere High School and received his bachelor's degree from Northwestern University. He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Elaine Vandercoy, on June 18, 1960. Together, Dick and Elaine owned and operated Winkelman's Flowers in Belvidere. Dick was in the Army reserves and served on the Board of Directors for Belvidere Savings and Loan. He enjoyed his time traveling with Elaine, as well as spending time with family and friends. He will be missed by all.

He is loved and missed by his wife, Elaine; children, Dr. Daniel (Monica) Winkelman, Susan (Steven) Woods; grandchildren, Emily, Anna, Andrew, Brendan, Kathryn and cousin, Sally Pulford. Dick is preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside Rd., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Twila Schock officiating. The visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m., prior to service. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Memorials to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital.
