Belvidere, IllinoisRichard N. Spoden, 74, of Belvidere, IL died early Sunday morning, April 12, 2009 in Swedish American-Belvidere Hospital after a sudden illness. Richard was born December 9, 1934 in Janesville, Wisconsin the son of Edward J. and Norma C. (Bratkowski) Spoden. He married Gail Roush in Yorkville, IL. He served our country in the Army from 1957 through 1959 being stationed at Ellsworth S.D. Richard and Gail have owned Stylehouse Furniture Ltd. since 1977. In his younger years, Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting and hiking; he was a devoted Greenbay Packer fan and had a love for automobiles from antiques to new. Richard enjoyed tending to his yard and spending time at home with his dog Nicky, who was his constant companion.Survivors include his wife, Gail of Belvidere; children, James (Debra) Spoden of Autrain, MI, Patricia (Archie) Effler of Belvidere, Larry (Michele) Spoden of Roscoe; grandchildren, Ben, Mark, Timothy, Nicholas, Christina, Nicole, Natalie, Kelli; brothers, Kenneth (Carol) Spoden of Belvidere, John (Monika) Spoden and Michael (Gloria) Spoden both of Janesville, WI; sisters, Lorraine Baysden of Keedysville, MD, Jeanette Dominy of Janesville, WI.Richard is predeceased by his parents, brothers, Edward, Jr., Robert Spoden.
