May 31, 1947 — Jul 31, 2026
Richard William Rohda, 79, of Caledonia, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Richard was born on May 31, 1947, in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, to Howard Rohda and Beverly Schoelkopf. He married the love of his life, Kathy Hyser, in July of 1988, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures.
Richard dedicated many years of his career to the Chrysler Manufacturing Facility in Belvidere, where he was known as a hardworking and dependable employee. Outside of work, he embraced life with enthusiasm and an adventurous spirit that could never be contained.
A faithful member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Richard was also active in many organizations, including being a social member of the Belvidere VFW, a member of a local snowmobile club, a side-by-side club, and the Poplar Grove Car Club. Anyone who knew Richard knew he had a passion for anything with an engine. He was a true gearhead who loved speed, Harleys, classic cars, and the thrill of the next adventure. He was also an avid snowmobiler who cherished every opportunity to hit the trails with family and friends.
Richard's adventurous nature extended beneath the water as well. A certified scuba instructor, he shared his love of diving with many others, and his scuba club was called upon numerous times to assist with water recovery efforts. Whether on land or underwater, Richard was always eager for a challenge and never shied away from an adventure.
Above all else, Richard treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. He was known for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, unwavering stubbornness, and loving heart. His stories, laughter, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Richard is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Rohda; his stepson, Jeff (Amy) Cantrill; his grandchildren, Ava, Cole, and Zach; his sisters, Ruth Ann (Glenn) Heirlmeier and Lori Lashack; his brother, Larry Lindholm; his nephew, Nick (Jen) Lashack; his daughter-in-law, Shelly Rohda; and his faithful companion, Duke, his beloved dog.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Ron Rohda; and his beloved son, Brian Rohda.
In accordance with Richard's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded by Anderson Funeral & Cremation Services.
