Richard W. Phillips, 75, of Rockford, Il died early Monday morning, May 29, 2006 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 31, 1931 in Belvidere, Il the son of George and Nellie (Britton) Phillips. Richard married Lois Tessman on March 17, 1952 in Belvidere. Richard served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. Over the years, he drove for Cassens Transport Company. After he retired he kept busy driving for various companies and volunteering at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was a member of the V.F.W. John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461, American Legion Boone Post 77, Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 272. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling; and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play basketball and volleyball.Survivors include his children, Mike (Michelle) of Rockford, Richard (Robin) of Livingston, Mont., Debra Potter of Lincoln Park, N.J.; grandchildren, Brandt and Ryan Wright, Kristopher Stumpf, Wyatt Phillips, Morgan, Stephanie and Tyler Phillips; sister, Ann Phillips of Rockford and daughter in-law Sharon Phillips of Rockford. Richard is predeceased by his parents; wife, Lois; daughter Denise and granddaughter Nicole.
Memorials can be made to the family to be distributed to the veterans organizations to which Richard belonged.
