Richard D. Nelson, 75, of Poplar Grove, Il died Wednesday evening, December 13, 2006 in his home. Richard was born December 8, 1931 in Coon Rapids, Iowa the son of Sam and Gertrude (Minnich) Nelson. . Over the years, Richard worked for the Chrysler Corporation and was a member of the U.A.W. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to feed the animals of Candlewick Lake.Survivors include his children, David D. Nelson, Dannie J. Nelson, Phillip L. Nelson of Rochester, MN, Tammy D. (Brian) Nelson of Belvidere, Linda L. (Jerry) Keena of Rockford; brothers and sisters, Donald Nelson of Kellogg, IA, Sharron Yennie of Rochester, MN, Shirley (Cicil) Chilson of Bemidji, MN, John Nelson of New York Mills, MN, Lesley Nelson of Branson, MO, Terry Nelson and Leroy Nelson both of Kimballton, IA, Darrell Nelson of Toledo, OH, Dennie Nelson of Rochester, MN, Roxann (Del) Carson, Lyons, NB; numerous grandchildren including, Nicholas Roeling, Kimberly Smith, Kara Roeling, Matthew Keena, Haley Keena, Brian Albrecht, Saharra Burg, Eugene Neal, Jessica Neal, Cynthia Smith, Brooke and Cassie Smith; first wife, Phyllis Glen; special friends, Patricia Burg, Dawn Burg, Jennifer Smith. Richard is predeceased by his parents, second wife, Shirley Amman and special friend Doris Lamping.

A memorial will be established in care of the family.
