Richard E. Huffman, 88, of Poplar Grove, IL, died peacefully, Thursday, March 30, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. He was born September 27, 1928 in Harvard, IL, son of Lynn C. and Ester (Madsen) Huffman. He graduated from Bensenville High School in Bensenville, IL. Richard married his sweet heart, JoAnn Guell, on May 10, 1952, in Poplar Grove, IL. He was employed for many years with Wolf Chevrolet and for six years with the Transportation Department in Rockford School District 205.

He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War from 1950-1952. Richard enjoyed jazz and jazz festivals, golf, cards and wintering in South Texas for many years in his house located on the fourth green at a golf course. He was a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church. Richard loved to be surrounded by his family.

Richard will be missed by his dear wife, JoAnn; sons, Lynn (Greta) C. Huffman the 2nd of Dallas, TX and David (Kathy) S. Huffman of Woodstock ; sister, Janita Hawes; brother, Lynn (Karen) M. Huffman; grandchildren, Jacob (Laura)  S. of Wauwatosa, Wis. and Jason D. Huffman; great- grandson, Hunter James Huffman; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father; his mother, Ester Olsen; sister, Jeanette; and step mother, Lozelle Huffman.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church,  105 E Grove St, Poplar Grove, IL 61065. A visitation will be held from 10-10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Reverend Christopher Druce Jones will officiate. Burial will be private.
