Richard "Dick" Gritzmacher, 87, of Belvidere, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, November 16, 2017 in his home. He was born July 18, 1930 in Belvidere, the son of Edwin and Gertrude (Scharping) Gritzmacher. Dick graduated in 1948 Belvidere High School, where he played multiple sports, and he was a member of the 1947 undefeated Belvidere Bucs football team. Dick was in the United States Navy.  He married Janice Lambert on February 14, 1976. Dick worked as a union butcher until retirement. He loved fishing, hunting and camping. Dick loved sports especially the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears.

Dick is loved and missed by his wife, Janice, children, Mark (Kathy) Gritzmacher, Lori Anderson, Robin (Rusty) Brown, Scott (Jennifer) Shacklee, Jim (Cynthia) Shacklee, and Paula (Rick) Sherman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; siblings, Barb (Richard) Wych, Robert (Marlene) Gritzmacher, and Diane Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Pamela Trevino, grandson, Branden Ramey, and siblings, John Gritzmacher, Mary Sawyer, Donna Frazer, and Judy Christian.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Cremation rites have been accorded.
