Richard W. Duncan, 91,
of Tinley Park passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 at Sunrise of Crystal
Lake. Born on May 30, 1927 in Rochester, New York the son of Walter and Helen (Michalowski)
Dziekonski. Richard attended high school in Rochester and later moved to
Illinois to attend the Chicago Institute of Technology, George Williams
College, and South Suburban College. Once in college, Richard joined the Phi
Zeta Tau service fraternity. On October 10, 1953, Richard married the love of
his life Hubertine (Ross) Duncan. Richard was a member of the Tinley Park
Community Church in Tinley Park.
Richard served our
country in the United States Navy, rank YNSN. During his time in the Navy, he
served on four ships, but spent most of time aboard the Enoree. He was one of
the Enoree Reunion Group's founders and served as president for many years. He
worked for Naylor Pipe Company in Chicago for 35 years as a Sales Engineer and Cost
Analyst. He retired from Naylor in 1986. He was an experienced photographer. He
enjoyed poetry, camping, and he was an avid reader. Richard was one of the
founding members of the Tinley Morain Genealogy Group and served as president
for a number of years. He was also a member of the Girl Scouts of the United
States, the Polish Genealogical Society, and the VFW.
Richard is survived by his children Diane (Greg) Monday and Candis (Robert) Pomykala; grandchildren Ross (Kate) Rasmussen, Anya (Steve McLain) Pomykala, and Scott Rasmussen; three great-grandchildren Sandro Pomykala, Margo Rasmussen, and Ario Pomykala; along with his nephews Paul Camardo and Ron Dziekonski Jr.; and his nieces Valerie Camardo, Amy Andersen, and Sharon Duncan.
Richard was preceded
in death by his parents, his wife, Hubertine, brother, Ronald Dziekonski, his
twin brother, Robert Duncan, and his sister Joan Camrado.
Visitation will be
from 10-10:45 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation
Services 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue, Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service at 11:00
a.m., Friday, January 18, 2019 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services with
Deacon Olson officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
