Richard "Dick" Dean Smith, 83, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away on April 16, 2024. Born on December 15, 1940 in Storm Lake, Iowa. The son of Evelyn Imogene (Clarke) and George Richard Smith.

On August 20, 1960 he married the love of his life, June, and they shared 63 years of marriage. Dick was a deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His sense of humor and tricks would always make his family smile.

He retired from Belvidere Chrysler as a welder, and a member of UAW 1268. Dick was also life member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, golf, gambling and poker. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. He will be greatly missed.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife, June Smith; their children, Lyle (Loretta) Smith, Imogene (Paul) Taylor; grandchildren, Kathy (Matt) Jaklic, Brad (Ashley) Smith, Adam Beard, Jeffrey Beard, Ryan Taylor, Rodney (Emily) Taylor; great grandchildren, Sarah, Mason, Ivy, Scarlett, Dean, Arianna, Payton and Rowan; his brother, Larry (Deb) Smith, and nephew, Matt Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who he loved dearly.

Predeceased by his daughter Jo Beard; parents, Evelyn and George Smith; siblings, Ronald Smith and Joyce Smith, and nephew Larry Smith Jr.

Richard's visitation will be Tuesday, April 23, between the hours of 6-8pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 24th at 11am at Andersons, pastor David Smith officiating. Visitation at 10am until time of service.

Burial will be at Highland Garden of Memories.
