Richard "Dick" Charles Peters, 81, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025.Born on November 23, 1943, he was the beloved son of Lillian (Schultz) and Stewart Peters.

Dick was a proud and dedicated member of the Local 32 Labor Union and spent much of his career with Northern Pipeline. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he also devoted much of his time to farming — a passion that reflected his love for the land and the outdoors.

An avid sportsman, Dick found joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears and Cubs, cheering on his teams through every season.

Above all, Dick was a man of character. He was honest, loyal, and didn't believe in shortcuts. He believed in showing up, doing the work, and being there for the people who mattered. He will be remembered not just for what he did, but for who he was: a devoted son, a steadfast friend, a hardworking man who loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his nephews, John (Pat) Dashney and Donald Dashney; great nieces, Madeline Dashney, Nicole (Chris) Cox, Corin (David) Shasteen, numerous great great nieces and a great-great nephew.

He is welcomed into heaven by his parents, and sister Myrna Dashney.

Dick's memorial visitation will be Thursday July, 24th  between the hours of 4 to 8pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL 61008. Private family interment will be at Belvidere cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the North Boone Fire Department District 3.
