Richard "Rick" Britton, 75, of Poplar Grove, Illinois, passed away peacefully Saturday December 13, 2025. He was born April 30, 1950, in DeKalb, Illinois, to Charles Britton and Doris (Schmidt) Britton and was raised in Kirkland, Illinois.

Rick graduated from Belvidere High School in 1968. He began farming at a young age, participating in FFA and renting his first plot of land at just 17. An avid John Deere fan, he went on to run Britton Farms for more than 50 years, earning the respect of the Northern Boone County farming community for his dedication to the land and his involvement in land conservation efforts.

Above all, Rick loved his family. He showed that love not through grand gestures, but through consistency, loyalty, and being there when it mattered most. He was known for quietly stepping in to help, offering support without fanfare and never seeking recognition. His life was marked by humility, hard work, and a steady presence that others came to rely on.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris (Britton) Cascio and Charles Britton, and his sister, Carol Britton.

Rick is survived by his best friend and partner, Jan Thelen; his brothers, Bill (Laurie) Britton and Tom (Debbie) Britton; nieces Andrea (Nonda) Kirimis and Tara (Karl) Hagemann, Jennifer Britton and Courtney (Tim) Conner and Nephews Corey and Todd Britton, and Nikolas Britton, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

He asked for little, gave much, and leaves behind a life well lived.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, the 20th. at Anderson Funeral Home in Belvidere, IL. Burial to follow at Belvidere Cemetery.
