Reuben Wayne Wise, 71, of Belvidere, Illinois died Saturday morning, June 14, 2008 in Van Matre Rehabilitation Center, Rockford, Illinois after a short illness. Reuben was born February 1, 1937 in Cullman, Alabama the son of Willie J. and Jewell (McClintoch) Wise. Reuben married Dora D. Schroeder in Giessen, Germany on October 9, 1964. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean and Vietnam wars and was honorably discharged after 23 years of service in 1977. After moving to Belvidere, he went to work for the US Post Office in Rockford where he was a lead mechanic. He retired in 2000. Reuben was a member of the V.F. W. John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 and American Legion Boone Post 77, where he was on the funeral detail.Survivors include his wife, Dora of Belvidere; children, Michael (Catherine) of Washington state, Wanda of Alabama and Wayne (Kathy) of Washington state.; numerous grandchildren; brothers, Bill Wise of Alabama, Wilbur (Linda) Rice of Georgia; several nieces and nephews. Reuben was predeceased by his parents and infant sister, Norma Jean.

A memorial will be established in Reuben's name.
