Raymond J. Savant, 81, of Belvidere, IL died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in OSF St. Anthony Medical from a ruptured Aortic Aneurysm. Raymond was born June 3, 1924 in Greenville, Illinois the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Savant. Raymond married Frances Spudich on June 19, 1954 in Livingston, Illinois. Over the years Raymond was employed as a transport driver for Cassens Transport Co. retiring in June of 1993. Currently he was working part-time for NAPA Auto Parts. Raymond was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, IL. He was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved people. Raymond served our country in the Army Air Corp during World War II.Survivors include his wife, Fran of Belvidere, IL; daughter Carrie (Bruce) Hanley of Sammamish, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Sy Savant, John Savant and six sisters, Liz Viviano, Clara Mathias, Jenny DeRight, Peg St. Angelo, Joyce Savant and Ann Davis.
Memorials can be given in care of Sacred Heart Catholic Church or St. James Catholic Church in Raymond's memory. Local arrangements by Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL.
