Raymond D. Riley, 72, of Belvidere, died Thursday, July 31, 2008, in Swedish American Hospital following a lengthy illness. Ray was born November 3, 1935, in Farnfelt, MO, the son of Emett and Francis Turner Riley. On October 5, 1957, he married Janice I. Bloomingdale in Kingston, IL, making their home in Belvidere the past 48 years. Ray was a well-known mechanic and owned and operated Riley Standard Service and the IOCO Station for many years, and was later employed by Belvidere Auto Parts and in the maintenance department of Belvidere Cemetery.Survivors include his wife Janice; daughter Luann (Steve) Harris, and sons Douglas (Pamela) and William Riley, all of Belvidere; 10 brothers and sisters, including Ruth Dixon in FL, Louise (Bill) Beasley in KY, Mona (Bud) Palmer in OH, Mary (Ronald) Sester and Sue (Lee) Weber in Kingston, IL, Terry (Vicky) Riley in MI, Lynn (Aloma) Riley in IA, James Riley in WI, Alice (Chan) Muniz in OH, and Sherry (Mike) White in MI; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ray was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in care of the family.
