Raymond Lindberg, 76, of Belvidere, Illinois, died at his home, Sunday, May 22, 2005. He was a former resident of Bruce Crossing and Ramsey, Michigan. Ray had been ill with emphysema for several years. He died peacefully with his family by his side. Ray was born to the late Charles and Sophie (Moilanen) Lindberg in Bruce Crossing, Michigan, on January 21, 1929. He attended local schools in Michigan and began working at an early age. For a short time he did wood work, and later worked with his father in millwork.He served in the US army form 1951 until 1955 with overseas service in Germany. He married the love of his life, Doris Hocking, of Wakefield in 1959. Raymond was a welder and mechanic at White Pines Copper Company until 1973, when he moved to Belvidere, Illinois to make his home. He was a welder at Pillsbury-Green Giant from 1973 until his retirement in 1991. He made many good friends in Illinois and like the area but still seemed to have a soft spot for the Upper Peninsula.Raymond's hobbies were what he did best, mechanics and welding and made many good friends through it. He was always ready to help his fellow man. Raymond also had a very soft spot for his grandchildren, and for anyone else's children. They were attracted to each other like magnets. If there was a baby in the house, you can be sure it was in Ray's lap. HE WAS AN IDEAL HUSBAND, FATHER, GRANDFATHER AND FRIEND TO ALL. "Everyone Loved Raymond".Survivors are his wife, Dorie; sons, Raymond "Rusty" (Lisa) , Bruce (Sue) both of Belvidere, IL; daughters, Rose Ann Lindberg Hagerstown, IN, Brenda (Joe) Hunt of Losantville, IN; grandchildren, Tucker and Matthew Hunt, Lincoln Flowers, Tayler, Tanner, Hope and Halie Lindberg; brother, Robert Lindberg; sister, Sigrid (Val) Bonetti both of Bruce Crossing, MI,; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Eloise, Jim and Sue Hocking, Barbara Sordahl all of Wakefield, Mary Spearo of Milwaukee, Ed and Karen Hocking of Ramsay, Don and Gail Hocking of Solway, MN, Ray and Barbara Hocking of Wauwatosa, WI, Ray Fleming of Bruce Crossing.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Oliver and Charles Lindberg, three sisters Alvina Juhola, Martha Fleming and Shirley Sexton and nephew Eddie Fleming.The family wishes to acknowledge OSF Home Health Care and Hospice staff and all the attending physicians for the care given to Raymond and his family.
