Belvidere, IllinoisRandolph Lee "Randy" Ackerman, 60, of Belvidere, IL died Monday morning, November 13, 2006 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Randy was born February 14, 1946 in Port Angeles, Washington, the son of Harvey and Alberta (Carlson) Ackerman. Randy graduated from Marengo High School in 1964. Over the years Randy worked in the cement finishing industry for a number of different companies. He loved to fish and to talk about fishing, as well as tinkering on the farm and caring for the animals especially the ostriches. Randy was a decorated veteran giving service to our country in the US Army from 1966 to 1970 and serving in Viet Nam from 1967 to 1968. Survivors include his mother, Alberta Whiston of Belvidere; children, Shane Ackerman of Fullerton, CA, John (Christina) Ackerman of Friendship, WI; grandson, Ryan Ackerman of Wonder Lake, IL; sisters, Melody (Neal) Anderson of Rockford, Linda (Rick) Ferguson of Seymour, IN, Janis (Michael) Huff of Belvidere; ex-wife, Mary Ackerman of Poplar Grove, IL; nieces and nephews. Randy is predeceased by his father, Harvey; step-father, Stanley Lee; brothers, Jeffrey Lee and Gregory Lee.

A memorial will be established in Randy's name in care of the family.
