Pierre M. Outzen, 79, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at St. Anne's in Rockford following a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born September 14, 1936 in Rockford, the son of Henry Outzen and Marthe Marie Menesguen, He was the youngest child of theirs. He graduated from West High School in Rockford in 1954. He started working at Sundstrand in 1954 and 1956 he joined the Air Force and was involved with the 306th Strategic Air Command Bombardment Wing. After his tour of duty, he returned to Sundstrand and worked for 48 years as Manager of the Technical Publications of Electrical Systems and San Diego Energy Systems, retiring in 1992. After retiring from Sundstrand he started his own business, Outsource Technical Writing Services, until 2012 where he could no longer work due to Parkinson's. Pierre loved to go three times a year to Helliar's Resort in Nestor Falls, Canada. He had a fine touch and knew instantly when there was something working. He also liked to fly airplanes, watching the Ice Hogs and Blackhawks, Dale Earnhardt racing, model railroading and gardening. He spent time in Rochelle watching the trains with his grandson Jaden. Pierre enjoyed watching his grandson and granddaughter play hockey when he could.

He was married to Linda Rose Heid on September 7, 1963. She passed away November 7, 1967. There was one son born to them Brian P. Outzen.
Pierre married Arlene F. Watkins, April 22, 1972. There were two children born to them, Jennifier Lynn Outzen (Jeff) Dickmann, Chad M. Outzen and two grandchildren, Jaden and Jasmine.

He is survived by his sister, Bonita Outzen (Leo) Owens and numerous nephews and nieces.
He is also survived by one of his close Air Force buddies, Bob Meister of Cleveland, Ohio.
Preceding him in death are his parents; sisters Jeannine (Frank) Bolin, Twins at birth, Celine and Yvette; brothers, George (Betty) Outzen and Henry (Betty) Outzen.

Family wants to give a special thanks to Dr. Irene Boswell, and Dr. Regina Bielkus, and the staff of OSF Hospital and St. Anne's.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL 61008. Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:45 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Funeral home. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery.
