Phyllis Jean Schumacher, of Belvidere, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28th. She was born on January 8, 1933, in Belvidere, IL to Chauncey and Dorothy (Mitchell) Starr. She married Howard Schumacher on November 21, 1954.
In her lifetime, Phyllis worked at Admiral in Harvard, Central Grain in Belvidere, several gravel pits and landfills owned by the William Charles Company and she retired from Rockford Truck Sales in 1998.
Phyllis was an active member in the community. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ladies Guild, Big Thunder Grange, Boone County Keen Age Center, American Legion Auxillary, and Business and Professional Women. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife, quilting, bowling, bible study, playing bingo and traveling. She was Tax Assessor for Flora Township in the 60's. She clerked auctions for many years for Marrs Auction Service and Goad Auction Service.
She is survived by her three children, Cynthia (Curtis) Fruit, Bill Schumacher (Debbi Weber), and Cheryl Crabtree (Brad Richmond); grandchildren, Chad Fruit, Crystal Fruit, Kristopher (Ashley) Gay, Ryan Curry (Liz Cocoma); great grandchildren, Gavin and Addison Fruit, Kiley Ishmon, Bella Evans, Ava and Adley Curry, Aubrey McGaw; sisters, Mary (Jay) Cordray and Patricia Siebrasse; brother, Kerry (Darlene) Hopperstad; sister-in-law, Judy Starr; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband on November 21, 2009; her parents; sister, Ruth Starr; and brother, John Starr.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1045 Belvidere Rd, Belvidere, IL 61008, with Rev. Allan Buss officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 9:45 a.m. and also a visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories, Belvidere. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran School.
