Phyllis J. Sympson Morgan, 75, of Belvidere, IL, died at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday (July 16, 2024) after a lengthy illness, at her apartment with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren at her side.  Phyllis was born to Paul and Doris Sympson on March 27, 1949 in Rockford, IL.

Survivors include her children: Patrick Fannan (Diana)-Belvidere, Terri (Ralph) Brandenburg-Waupun, WI, Thomas Fannan-Cedarville, IL and Nanci (Dan) Klocke-Hayfield, MN, and one sister, Sandy Sympson Myers-Tempe, AZ.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one niece and nephew, and 4 great nephews, 1 great niece, 1 great great niece and 1 great great nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Paul and Doris Sympson), brother (Ronald Sympson), grandchild (Kim Fannan) and great grandchild (baby Jack).

Phyllis had been a bus driver for 24 years. The kids loved her as much as she loved them.  She loved her job and it probably had something to do with her wanting to be a Special Ed teacher.  She always babysat when she was a teenager.  She loved doting on all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her nickname was 'GG' and they loved her so much.  Each year at Christmas time Phyllis made cookies and bread for each of the families.  She loved cooking,   scrapbooking, fishing, camping and going out with friends. Phyllis loved to be involved in all activities at Heritage Woods assisted living and she loved making sure that everyone had fun. She made countless friends with whomever she met.

Phyllis' family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Heritage Woods and Northern Illinois Hospice for their compassionate care.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 26th at 11am at Anderson Funeral Home. Located at 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. Belvidere, IL. A visitation will be at 10am until the time of service.
